Who makes it
FizzPoker is a one-person hobby project. Its maker likes programming and likes playing poker, and built a place to do both — the same reason it is free. There is no company behind it, no investors, no ads and no plan to charge for it. The project started in June 2026 and is developed in the open on Hacker News feedback and on what the people who play it ask for.
Because it is one person, two things follow: the game does one thing well (No-Limit Hold’em tournaments for private groups) rather than many things, and every claim on this site is written to stay literally true — if a feature is missing, the page says so.
How it is run
- Free, with nothing behind the word. No prices anywhere, no paid tier, no in-app purchases, no ads. Larger tables, extra bots, leagues and statistics need a free account only so that results can be kept for the same person.
- No real money, by design. Chips have no cash value; there are no buy-ins, prizes or payouts and no way to add any. FizzPoker is a game, not gambling.
- Nothing to install. It runs in the browser on every device and can be added to the home screen like an app. Friends join a table from its link, pick a name and sit down.
- Accounts without passwords. Signing in means clicking a link sent to your email address. The site stores what it needs to keep your games, stats and leagues together, and nothing it does not.
- Hosted in the EU. The web app runs in Frankfurt, the game server in the Netherlands, and the database in Frankfurt.
- Honest about the Fizz Score. The post-game review compares each decision with game-theory models and labels it from acceptable to blunder. It is advisory, it only appears after the hand, and the Fizz Score page lists its limits.
